Clockwise (from top left) : Garrett, Tom, Wendy, Gail, Kylin, Michelle, Alyx and Corey

Dynamite is a dream come true for three generations of the Carhart-Walker family. The matriarch of the family–-Gail Carhart Walker–-supported her children: Wendy, Michelle, Corey, and Alyx, and granddaughters, Kylin and Peyton during their competitive gymnastics years, and as the head trampoline coach, she continues to help her other grandchild Christian reach new heights. Son Garrett and grandson Ryan help out and play in the gym a few days a week. Most days, Gail is surrounded by her husband, Tom, and several of her children and grandchildren, which truly makes Dynamite truly their home away from home.

Beyond competing, Michelle was the first to begin teaching gymnastics, which she started at the age of 14 under her coach Kelli Hill. When she began coaching at a new gym (where sister Alyx was competing) in the early 1990s, Michelle convinced her mother to join her as office manager and was joined by her brother Corey to help her coach the upper-level Women’s Artistic team. Soon after, her sister Wendy began coaching several levels of the women’s artistic team, her other sister Alyx joined her mother to coach the Tumbling & Trampoline Team (TNT), and her daughter Kylin began teaching classes. Whew! Understanding just how important the coach/gymnast relationship is, Michelle’s dedication to the gym can be seen in each new addition to the Dynamite family. Each member of the staff is dedicated to helping every student succeed in his or her own way.
