Fall Gymnastics Classes in North Bethesda: How to Pick the Right Class

School starts August 25, and if you're mapping out the fall, gymnastics is one of those activities that's easier to lock in early than to squeeze in later. Here's how to think about picking a class β€” and an honest note about which slots disappear first.

Start with age, then experience

Our programs are built around developmental stages, not just birthdays:

The time slot matters more than parents expect

Here's the practical truth: weekday classes right after school and Saturday mornings fill first, because that's when everyone wants them. Later weekday evenings and mid-morning weekend slots usually have room longer.

If your schedule is flexible, a less-obvious time slot often means a smaller group and more coach attention within the same class cap. If your schedule isn't flexible, book earlier rather than later β€” we cap every class at 6–8 students, so there simply isn't room to squeeze in one more.

How often should they go?

For most recreational gymnasts, once a week is plenty to build real skills and keep it fun. Twice a week makes sense for kids who are genuinely hooked, working toward a specific skill, or being looked at for pre-team. More isn't automatically better at young ages β€” rest matters, and burnout is real.

Families enrolling in more than one class get a multi-class discount; the details are on our pricing page.

What if we're brand new?

Totally normal β€” most of our fall sign-ups have never done gymnastics. Start with a trial class so your child can try the room before you commit. Our guide to what to expect at a first class covers exactly how the hour flows, and how to book a trial walks through the portal step by step.

Questions worth asking before you enroll anywhere

We wrote a full guide on choosing a gymnastics gym, but the short version: ask about the student-to-coach ratio, coach tenure and safety training, and whether you can watch a class before committing. Any gym worth your money will answer all three without hesitating.
